Ouseburn is hosting its first ever Street Art Festival!
ELEMENTS street art festival will run over the 3rd and 4th August, at Woods Pottery on Stepney Bank. The festival will feature work from 20 different artists, along with art sessions giving people hands-on experience in creating street art, workshops and live demonstrations.
As part of the festival, 14 signs and murals have been created – including one which will sit in the heart of the Byker Estate.
Young people from Byker collaborated with specialist youth service Foundation Futures and artist Nocciola the Drawer to workshop ideas and help understand what Byker means to them.
From the session Nocciola the Drawer created a vibrant, fun mural featuring ideas generated at the workshop, Byker’s iconic colours and a classic Geordie saying.
You can find Byker’s sign on the corner of Raby Street/ Raby Cross, but don’t just stop there, there’s 13 other signs and murals to find!
