Byker is situated in a great location very close to the City Centre with lots of facilities on the Estate and within a 10 to 15 minute walk. It is the perfect location for shopping and leisure and boasts a climbing wall, swimming pool, horse riding, library and the renowned Ouseburn quarter, popular for its artistic and musical attributes. With the Metro and excellent bus services situated on the Estate, Byker offers easy access to the train station, port, airport and the rest of the region.

The Estate has churches, two primary schools (Church of England and Roman Catholic), pubs, social clubs and its own shops.
