What is the Right to Buy?

The Right to Buy is a government scheme which allows secure tenants the right to buy their Byker Community Trust (BCT) home at a discounted price. This applies to secure tenants who held a BCT tenancy on 5 July 2012, when Newcastle City Council transferred their housing stock to BCT.

New BCT tenants are able to buy their home under a scheme called “the right to acquire”, subject to eligibility criteria. This scheme is based on a grant rather than a discount.

If you would like further information on buying your home please contact your local housing officer or call into the BCT Office at 17 Raby Cross or phone on 0800 533 5442 or by e mail at enquiries@bykerct.co.uk
