Tom Collins House residents get cooking with Nourish Food School

Residents at Tom Collins House have recently enjoyed a series of cooking classes with Nourish Food School.

Funded by the Byker Community Trust, Nourish Food School hosted cooking classes from the communal kitchen in Tom Collins House, which welcomed 15 residents across six sessions.

They learned to make dishes with the help of Joanna Lacey, Managing Director of Nourish Food School, including Moroccan meatballs, spaghetti bolognese and even chocolate eclairs with choux pastry – all made from scratch.

Nourish Food School also provided meal kits for residents who wanted to try making the recipes in their own time. In total the food school engaged with residents on nearly 70 occasions.

Residents thoroughly enjoyed the cooking classes and even gifted Joanna with some onions grown in the communal garden at Tom Collins House (her favourite vegetable).

If you have any ideas or suggestions for events or activities, don’t forget you can get in touch with our Community Engagement Officer Bijoli by emailing enquiries@bykerct.co.uk.
