It’s Pension Credit week! The government started the campaign in 2022 to raise awareness and bust myths about claiming Pension Credit.
There are around 900,000 eligible households in the UK that are currently not claiming Pension Credit, and with the northeast being one of the lowest claiming areas in the country, could you be missing out?
Pension Credit gives you extra money to help with your living costs if you’re over State Pension age and on a low income. Pension Credit can also help with housing costs such as your rent and/or service charges.
You might get extra help if you’re a carer, severely disabled, or responsible for a child or young person.
Pension Credit is separate from your State Pension, and you can get Pension Credit even if you have other income, savings or own your own home.
Eligibility for Pension Credit is outlined here on the government website, and there is also a handy eligibility calculator to help you understand whether you can claim. The calculator is here.
If you need help with understanding your eligibility or support with making a claim, Aneta, our Tenancy Sustainment and Welfare Reform Officer is on hand to help. She can provide free, impartial advice on all things money related and can make sure you’re receiving all benefits your entitled to. Contact her by calling 0800 533 5442 or email enquiries@bykerct.co.uk.
