Have you received a letter from Newcastle City Council about claiming your £150 Energy Rebate?

Customers who do not pay their Council Tax by Direct Debit may have received a letter from Newcastle City Council about their £150 energy tax rebate.

Important – please do not ignore this letter.

The Government is providing an energy support payment of £150 to all households in council tax bands A-D, which they live in as their main home.

The £150 rebate will be provided to you as a separate payment rather than as part of your council tax bill. You are not required to pay this back and payments are being processed by the Revenues and Benefits Service at Newcastle City Council.

The Council is writing to all eligible households who do not pay their Council Tax by Direct Debit, to inform you how to apply.

You will need your Property Reference and Council Tax Reference numbers. These are included in the letter from Newcastle City Council.

To make an application and to find out more information about the energy support payment, you can visit www.newcastle.gov.uk/energysupportclaim

If you need further information about the energy support payment or do not have access to the internet and would like to speak to someone, please call Newcastle City Council on 0191 278 7878 and ask for Energy Support Payment.

Alternatively, if you need any further assistance in accessing the application, pop into the BCT office at 17 Raby Cross and one of the team will be able to provide help and support.

Applications must be received by 31 August 2022.

If you live in an eligible property and you already pay your Council Tax by Direct Debit, Newcastle City Council will make the payment directly to your bank account. Some of these payments should have already started to be processed.
