Spring has sprung and there’s plenty of exciting things happening in and around the Byker Estate.
We’re pleased to share that we’ve taken ownership of 24 brand new homes on Bolam Street. There’s a mixture of bungalows, houses and apartments and you can find out more on page 17.
We’ve included updates from our community partners such as The Lighthouse Project, Byker Sands and the Ouseburn Trust, and you can also find a feature on Cobalt Studios, a brilliant venue in Ouseburn who host a
large range of free and pay as you feel events. Turn to page 6 to find out more. We’ve also included a reminder on page 8 of the affordable food hubs that are available on the estate to help you keep your weekly shop cost down.
Keeping you safe in your homes is very important to us and on page 11 we’ve put some helpful tips together on how you can help us keep unauthorised people out of the Byker Wall, including a helpful guide on using
your intercom system to ensure your privacy. There’s been some brilliant updates to how you can contact us including the brand new MyKarbon app and WhatsApp. These make managing your home even easier and if things go wrong, you’ve got Karbon at your fingertips. Find out more on page 9.
This April in line with government guidelines, we will be increasing our rents. Every year we review our rent and service charges, and we’ve recently written to you to explain the changes from 6 April 2026. You can find out more, and what you need to do if you claim Universal Credit on page 12.
Enjoy the Easter Break.
