Do you want to work with your neighbours to help continue to make Byker the Greatest Place to Live? Then why not pop along to an open meeting from the Byker Village TARA (Tenant And Resident Association)?
The TARA, which was established in the late 1970’s, is a tenant and resident-led group who work in partnership with BCT and other agencies to address issues and concerns that affect tenants and residents living on the Byker Estate.
Through their positive approach, the TARA have achieved a number of recent successes including:
* The relocation of the bin store outside of the entrance to St. Lawrence Church.
* Cutting back of landscaping around the Union Road entrance to the Estate, ensuring safer lines of sight for pedestrians and traffic.
* Obtaining the provision of the street cleaning routes and agreed timetables from NCC.
Meetings take place once every 5 weeks and are free to attend.
