Concierge Upgrade and Digital Aerial System
Byker Community Trust’s concierge service is provided by YHN. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and provides many services to BCT tenants.
Installation of a new digital aerial system, and upgrade of the door entry and camera systems to the Byker Wall including link blocks, Dunn Terrace Wall and Chirton House has now been completed.
The digital aerial system has given residents a high speed TV connection and if they had Sky or cable channels they are still able to access those through the new aerial. Connections to a Broadband Service are being explored.
Residents living in the Byker Wall, its link blocks or Chirton House have had a new intercom installed which puts them directly in touch with Your Homes Newcastle Enquiry Centre.
The intercom is free to use and links to YHN’s enquiry centre. From there, queries can also be forwarded to the Byker Community Trust.

If you are having problems using your intercom system and not sure how it works, please get in touch. A member of the Concierge Response Team will be able to visit you in your home at a convenient time for you to demonstrate the new system functions.
The new Concierge Response Team can also help with many other concerns you may have and some of their day to day work includes:
- Security patrols
- Attending to noise complaints
- Resetting smoke, fire and intruder alarms
- Bin room waste collection
- Fire inspections
- Assisting tenants to gain access to their flats when they’re locked out
